Verses  5-8

  • Eyewitnesses (more than 500!)


Verses 12-24

  1. The Necessity of the resurrection (is it necessary to our faith?)


  • Without the resurrection, preaching and faith are  in Vain

    • Jesus would be a Liar_, not a Savior. 

    • Jesus would be powerless against sin and death 

    • Jesus would not be declared and proven to be the Son of God if he was dead (Rom 1:4) 

    • We would not be legally declared righteous

    • Death would still be master over Christ and us (Romans 6:5-11) 

    • No  hope, protection, and salvation without resurrection (1 Peter 1:3-9)

    • Current ministry of Christ not possible 


  • No forgiveness of sins

  • We are to be pitied 



  • No hope of afterlife or resurrection for us 

  • We would remain in bondage of eventual death and condemnation 

  • Without resurrection, there is no second coming of Christ

    1. Current ministry of intercession/prayer/advocate possible (Romans 5:10; 8:34; Hebrews 7:25)
